BIMBIA

On the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, not far from Limbe, lies the former slave port of Bimbia. Bimbia is an emerging and flourishing ecotourism site. Bimbia still bears traces of the slave trade, such as the building in which the slaves were kept, the padlocks, the chains (first and second doors) of no return, the oil mill and the cannons and many utensils used by the slaves counted. It has been recognised as a national heritage site by UNESCO. The site is still well preserved by a thick, little-known nature trail and an intact forest with a variety of medicinal plants and fruit trees.
