Description:

Limbe, the “Town of Friendship and Opportunities[1]” is a seaside City in the South West Region of Cameroon that was founded over 160 years ago by a British Missionary Alfred Saker who named it Victoria in 1858. In 1982, a Presidential Decree changed the name of the City after River Limbe.

 

The BAKWERI, ISUBU and WOVIA tribes constitute the indigenes of Limbe. However over the years the city has emerged into a metropolis consisting of various ethnicities of Cameroon and neighboring countries living together in peace and unity.

 

The City of Limbe consist of Nineteen Chiefdoms and a Paramount Chief (1st Class) to animate the historic and cultural heritage of their people. 

 

Limbe is the administrative head quarter of Fako Division in the South West Region with an estimated population of about 200,000 inhabitants.
